Front End Web Engineer

Help bring to life a new and powerful web application. We’re developing a unique platform to visualize and manipulate data, and convey compelling messages based on what’s discovered.

We’re looking for a fantastic front end web developer with strong programming fundamentals as well as a great eye, who always sweats the details. Our small but extremely talented team is looking for a colleague to contribute their expert skills to this application. This is your opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and be immersed in exciting projects. You will focus on XHTML/CSS production, Javascript coding, and the integration of web-based systems.

Responsibilities

  • Craft pixel perfect, cross browser HTML from a Photoshop comp
  • Implement the working front end to a brand new, ambitious web application with a REST backend
  • Testing, tweaking, and perfecting the application interface

Qualifications
  • Able to cleanly separate design logic from semantic structure using CSS
  • A professional level of Javascript knowledge
  • Experience with Javascript frameworks (prototype, scriptaculous, moo, YUI)
  • Extensive experience with web standards and CSS-driven layouts
  • Solid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions
  • Experience with development and debugging with Javascript, DHTML, and understanding of the DOM
  • Excellent time management, problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills
  • Ability to follow technical specifications and production processes
  • Able to work independently and in collaboration with others
  • Self motivated, curious, responsible and flexible
  • Experience with source control (SVN/CVS/VSS) a big plus
  • PHP knowledge a plus
  • Flash/Flex experience a plus
  • Qualified candidates will demonstrate substantial standards-based web development experience and knowledge.
